Questions:Immigration Case Study

Primary documents help us know where a certain way of life or what was made, started. They can help us find out how the world came to be the way it is today. The primary documents could have changed in the last two decades by being lost or not being learned about. The impact from this could be people telling stories that have not really happened and people would not know how something was really started in the past.

Lap 3 Inspiration Blog #2: Mark Tremonti

Mark Tremonti is one of my most favorite guitar players ever. He plays in one of favorite bands called Alter Bridge and when he does solos, I wonder how long it could take to do that well on guitar. His guitar parts sound so fun to play. As a matter of fact, I am actually trying to learn one of their songs and I still need to learn his parts. It may be easy for others, but he makes me want to try to learn to play faster and play just as well.

Lap 3 Inspiration Blog #1: My Father

My Dad inspires me so much. He makes sure I do well in school. He wants me to go to college no matter what. Because of him, I am well disciplined, which makes me know what right is from wrong. He has actually saved me from one of the most horrible situations in my life. If it were not for how he raised me and how much of a good person he is, I would probably not make it in life.

Culture

Culture has had a great contribution to how I am today. My family and friends helped as well. If it were not for my culture, I would not be like how I am today.
My family did very well in school. I would feel ashamed if I did not succeed in school. In fact, my aunt would cry if she got below an A in her class. She was that well of a student. My uncles and aunts recognize me as an influence for the kids in my family. So this pressures me a little bit, but it keeps me from doing horrible in school. My dad also keeps me from doing bad. If I get any where below a B in classes, i could be grounded and be considered as a slacker. My culture also made me a carnivore. I love the food that my family makes. It tastes so good and it makes me not want to become a vegetarian.

What does it mean to be an American?

I think there are multiple ways a person could be called an American. There is respect and loyalty. A person can respect any other citizens of the United States of America and they can be loyal to the land at all times.
When I say that being loyal to the land at all times I mean by not terrorizing anyone on American soil or just by hating America with a cold passion. I believe that anyone that wants to cause a crime such as murder, stealing, and bombing should obviously not be called an American. An American should be a person that lives there life freely with no crimes being commited.
American citizens should respect each other at all times. Not respecting a citizen of America could be just like disrespecting America itself because there would be no America without people. If Americans respect one another there could be no problems at all.

Inspiration Blog #3: Musicians

Even though they make me feel like I suck at guitar or any other instrument, musicians inspire me. When I see them play, they make me want to get better and play as well as them and it lets me know that there is still more to learn. They make me wish I had music as great as theirs.

Select the Right from the Bill of Rights that you think is most important. Explain why you think so.

In my opinion, the Fifteenth Amendment is very important. This Amendment prohibits the government from denying a person's right to vote on the basis of race. This could give any person, no matter what color or race.
In the past, many states did not follow the law and denied African Americans the right to vote by such means as literacy tests, poll taxes, and white primaries. At least now in modern times, people of what ever nationality could be given the right to vote. The Amendment could make all people equal.
Even if it makes people equal, I believe that the Amendment could help make a more preferred and accurate decision. For example, if there are people running for president and only certain people have the ability to vote, then only opinions from a certain amount of people can be taken. But if everyone is allowed to vote, opinions from everyone can be taken and a more precise decision can be made.

Inspiration Blog #2: Family

Even though nothing inspires me more than concerts, family inspires me just as much. My family supports me as much as they can. They tell me to do well in school and get good grades. Obviously, I would feel ashamed of myself if I ever let them down and slacking off by acting like an idiot. When I have problems, they always have the time to talk to me and are just a phone call away.
I could always rely on my family. My uncle or aunts would let me stay for the weekend if I have nothing to do. Because I don't live with my mother, my uncle drives me and the rest of my family to see her in Massachusettes every now and then.
If it were not for my family, I most likely would have not been like I am, and I would not care much for my future.

Inspiration blog: Concerts

Nothing inspires me more than seeing my favorite bands at concerts. When I see bands playing their hearts out and having the time of their life, the experience makes me want to picture myself in a band, on stage, with fans raising their "devil horns". Hearing the roar of a crowd or seeing mosh pits would make performing so great.
Concerts can give me the ability to be energetic and insane, and I can have so much fun. Singing and shouting with everyone else can be so crazy. There can be all different kinds of moshes such as circle pits and a mosh called the wall of death. It would be so awesome to be able to control the crowd and tell them to start jumping, moshing, or to start singing along.
I can honestly say that concerts are and always will be the most inspirational experiences of my life.

Select a quote from page170. do you agree or disagree with it?

I selected a quote that George Washington lived by. He quoted that you should "Think before you speak." I agree with this quote for various reasons.
I can agree with this quote because of the bad results that could happen from saying something without using your mind. For example, you could end up insulting the wrong person, and they can react with force and hurt you because you decided to not think. You could also hurt a friends' feelings and they might not want to forgive you for what you said.
Even though there are bad effects of not thinking before you speak, good effects could also be possible. You could be a detective figuring out a way to interrogate someone who knows something valuable to the investigation. You could be a lawyer trying to prove that your client isn't guilty.
The quote "Think before you speak" could lead to both, bad and good results.

In your opinion, what made the Declaration of Independence successful and/or a failure?

I think that there are different reasons that made the Declaration of Independence, both, successful and a failure.
I think that what made the Declaration of Independence successful, was the List of Grievances(which is the third part and lists the complaints from people, mainly about the British King), and the Resolution.(Which declares the colonies as independent) Many people were against the British and believed they deserved to have rights, the right to be independent and free from British rule. Even though the Declaration of Independence was partly successful with a lot of people, others were not affected.
I think that what made the Declaration of Independence a failure was the Loyalists, or Americans who fought side by side with the British. Loyalists believed that the British King was their protector and also thought that British laws should be upheld.
In conclusion, there are various reasons that make the Declaration of Independence successful and unsuccessful.

A New Holiday: Native American Day

There are many holidays and celebrations for heroes and their historic moments. But there is also one specific holiday that a lot of people celebrate which is Columbus Day. Columbus Day is a celebration for the founder of America, Christopher Columbus. He founded America on October 12th,1492. However, he also killed, raped, and tortured the inhabitants that were already living their lives in what would be called America. These inhabitants are known as Native Americans.

Columbus Day should still be celebrated until the end of time, but there should also be day to honor the Native Americans. The holiday would be known as "Native American Day" This holiday could at least show respect to the ones that did not deserve what happened to them.

The idea of Native American Day would have to be spread around. Social media, such as facebook and twitter, could be used and and event could be made. If it was possible to get in contact with the people who make holidays, Native American Day might be able to be made.

What does it say about a country to support a person/holiday such as Columbus?

In opinion, I believe that for a country to support a person/holiday such as Columbus, is like a bunch of pet owners giving a dog a treat for slaughtering cats. But even though Columbus treated the Native Americans unfairly in their own homeland, America probably would not have been found, and I would not be where I am today. It is a great idea to have a celebration for the founder of America, but unfortunately some people do not realize that Columbus did horrible things to the Native Americans who had been living there. 90

I am not against the celebration of the founder of America, but nothing can change the fact that the Native Americans were actually the "first founders" of America. 28

The country should celebrate Columbus Day because Columbus found America, but the nation should also acknowledge that Columbus was not heroic for killing the people in their own homeland.
